Dr. Oliver Seemann

Psychiatrist · Pioneer in non-invasive brain stimulation · Founder of Neuro-Spa · Innovator in mental wellness and longevity

Dr. Oliver Seemann was born in Pforzheim, Baden, Germany. As a sensitive and thoughtful child, he developed an early desire to give his life a meaningful and valuable purpose. This aspiration ultimately inspired him to study medicine.

Following professional experience in a neurological practice in Munich and at the Department of Neurosurgery in Augsburg, his intellectual interests increasingly turned toward philosophy and the humanities. He attended philosophical seminars at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), including those conducted by Professor Dieter Henrich, exploring fundamental questions of selfhood, subjectivity, self-awareness and human consciousness.

His growing fascination with the relationship between medicine, philosophy and the human mind led him to specialize in psychiatry and psychotherapy. From 1997 to 2001, he completed his specialist training at the Department of Psychiatry of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, located at Nußbaumstraße.

Since 2001, Dr. Seemann has worked independently as a specialist in psychiatry, initially in Munich and currently in Zurich, Switzerland.

Pioneering Work in Brain Stimulation

In 2002, Dr. Seemann became one of the early pioneers of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in outpatient clinical practice. He began investigating its potential applications in psychiatric and neurological conditions, as well as its possible benefits for mental well-being and cognitive performance in healthy individuals.

Over the course of his career, he has treated more than 5,000 patients with rTMS.

His vision has always been to harness the natural principles of magnetic stimulation to help people improve their mental well-being and quality of life by activating the inherent capacities of the human brain.

From a scientific and philosophical perspective, this vision is rooted in the concept of resonance within complex, self-organizing biological systems.

As part of his ongoing research and technological development, Dr. Seemann has contributed to the advancement of portable magnetic stimulation technologies, including GLAD-X®, a mobile, app-controlled, low-intensity magnetic device designed for wellness applications.

Clinical Leadership in Switzerland

From 2020 until the summer of 2026, Dr. Seemann served as Deputy Chief Physician at the Psychiatric Clinic Breitenau, part of the Psychiatric Services of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, alongside his private clinical activities.

During this period, he expanded and directed the Department of Interventional Psychiatry, developing a broad range of innovative treatment approaches, including:

  • Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS)
  • Mobile low-intensity magnetic stimulation
  • Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)
  • Transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS)
  • Photobiomodulation
  • Esketamine treatment

Through his commitment to innovation and clinical development, the Psychiatric Centre Breitenau became a reference centre for transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS) in Switzerland.

Neuro-Spa and International Expansion

Since February 2025, Dr. Seemann has been working in private practice as Chief Physician of Neuro-Spa Zurich.

His current professional focus is the international expansion of non-invasive brain stimulation technologies and the transfer of his clinical expertise into innovative models of mental wellness, preventive health and longevity.

A central element of this vision is the development of the Neuro-Spa franchise concept, designed to make advanced neurostimulation expertise and technologies accessible to a broader international population.

Dr. Seemann is also actively involved in corporate health management, particularly in developing innovative approaches to mental well-being, stress management, cognitive performance and occupational reintegration through mobile neurostimulation technologies.

His work explores how portable, user-friendly devices can support mental wellness in everyday life, including home-based applications and workplace wellness programmes.

Academic Honours and International Recognition

In recognition of his professional contributions, Dr. Seemann was awarded the honorary title of Professor h. c. by the International Institute of Organisational Psychological Medicine (IIOPM) in 2022.

In 2023, he received an honorary doctorate from Haybusak University in Yerevan, Armenia (YHU), in recognition of his commitment to:

“Tolerance, peace, brotherhood and the advancement of human, cultural and scientific values.”

These honours reflect his longstanding commitment to connecting medical science with broader humanistic principles.

Current Research and Innovation

Dr. Seemann’s current scientific and technological interests focus on the development of personalized, non-invasive approaches to brain stimulation, mental wellness and healthy longevity.

His principal areas of research and innovation include:

Post-COVID-19 Fatigue and Neurostimulation

Investigating the potential applications of rTMS and transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS) in individuals experiencing persistent fatigue and cognitive symptoms following COVID-19.

Home-Based Neurostimulation

Exploring the feasibility, safety, user experience and potential benefits of portable low-intensity magnetic stimulation devices, including GLAD-X®, for home-based wellness applications.

Longevity and Cognitive Wellness

Developing integrative concepts aimed at supporting cognitive vitality, mental resilience, stress management and healthy ageing.

Artificial Intelligence and Personalized Neurostimulation

Advancing AI-supported approaches through Neuro-Spa AI and neo TMS®, with the objective of improving the analysis, optimization and individualization of magnetic stimulation protocols.

Neurodevelopmental Conditions

Exploring neurostimulation approaches for autism spectrum disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), including the development and investigation of individualized stimulation parameters. These applications remain areas of clinical research and require careful assessment of safety and efficacy.

Vision

Dr. Seemann’s work is guided by a central belief: that the human brain possesses remarkable capacities for adaptation, self-regulation and neuroplasticity.

By combining neuroscience, medicine, philosophy, technological innovation and artificial intelligence, he aims to contribute to a future in which mental well-being, cognitive vitality and healthy longevity become more accessible to people around the world.

His long-term vision is to bridge the gap between advanced clinical neuroscience and everyday wellness, creating innovative, scientifically informed approaches that empower individuals to support their own mental and cognitive well-being.
